The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda, also known as just Zelda, is a high fantasy action-adventure franchise created by Nintendo. The first title released in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The franchise centers around various incarnations of Link as he rescues Princess Zelda and the Hyrule Kingdom from evil forces, primarily Ganon. As of June 2025, The Legend of Zelda franchise has sold over 170 million units worldwide.
