Splatoon is a third-person shooter by Nintendo first released in 2015 on the Wii U. Its popularity spawned a sequel released on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. The game has been a big success, especially in Japan, where it is one of the few console games in the country in the 2010s that has sold more than a million units, with the sequel selling over 3 million units in Japan alone.
