During the week of November 18 to November 24, Nintendo of America set a new Nintendo sales record by selling over 653,000 DS units in one week, breaking the previous record held by the Game Boy Advance, which sold 600,000 units.

In October of 2008 Nintendo officially announced that they had sold 84 million units, thus surpassing the total sales of the Game Boy Advance (81 million). The release of the Nintendo DSi and DSi XL boosted the sales even further. Also during October Nintendo announced that their hit Nintendogs for the DS had sold over 20 million units worldwide.
