This the NPD data for October 2017, which covers the sales for United States. The gaming industry generated $825 million.

Overall

A total of $238 million for Hardware. This is up 10% from October 2016. For Accessories, there was a total of $113 million, down 7% from 2016. For console software, there was a total of $447 million, down 20% from 2016. For PC software, there was a total of $27 million, down 29% from 2016.

Nintendo led hardware sales with the Switch and SNES Classic. These platforms were respectively the No. 1 and No. 2 platforms for October. The PS4 however still remained the best selling platform for 2017 overall. When including the 3DS, Nintendo accounted for 2/3 of units of hardware sold for the second month in a row. All platforms combined exceed 1 million units for the first time in October since 2011.
