A total of $1.415 billion for Hardware. This is up 58% from 2019. For video game content, there was a total of $5.244 billion, up 32% from from 2019. For Accessories, there was a total of $314 million, up 8% from 2019.
In terms of hardware, the Nintendo Switch continues to be the best-selling hardware unitwise, continuing its record of 24 consecutive months. It was the highest November for the console with 1.3 million consoles, However, the Playstation 5 is the leader based on consumer spending. Both the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series were restrained by supply constraints. The Playstation 5 achieved the highest launch month for both units and dollar sales, beating the record set the Playstation 4 in 2013. [2]
In terms of software, Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War become instantly becomes the best-selling game of the year. It continues the trend for Call of Duty taking the top position in launch month for the 13th year in a row. Assassin's Creed also performed well, achieving the highest launch month sales for the franchise since Assassin's Creed III in 2012. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales achieves the second highest launch month sale for a superhero game on Playstation platforms, only behind the original Marvel's Spider-Man. Just Dance 2021 debuted at the highest in the franchise's history since Just Dance 3 in 2011.
