A total of $137.7 million for Hardware. This is down 10% from May 2015. For game software, there was a total of $241.9 million, up 18% from 2015. For accessories, there was a total of $149 million, down 2% from 2015.
In comparison to April, May 2016 software launches were significantly better, driving major growth. Compared to May 2015, May 2016 launches nearly double unit sales and were 108% higher in dollar sales. If looking at just Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Wii U sales, new physical software were up 50% YOY.
Uncharted 4 had the second best launch month in the series, following Uncharted 3. Doom had the best launch month for the franchise, outperforming Doom 3's launch in August 2004. While Overwatch is third in ranking, it is selling much faster than Doom. When account for number of days available for sale, Overwatch doubled the sales of Doom. Minecraft sold best on Playstation 4 for this first time ever surpassing even the Xbox 360.
