This the NPD data for March 2018, which covers the sales for United States. The gaming industry generated $1.316 billion.

Overall

A total of $331 million for Hardware. This is down 32% from March 2017. For software, there was a total of $613 million, down 10% from from 2017. For Accessories, there was a total of $372 million, up 20% from 2017.

The Playstation 4 remains the best-selling console for the month and the year to date by revenue. Nintendo Switch with Red and Blue Joy-Cons is the best selling piece of hardware for the month and 2018.

Far Cry 5 became the best-selling title for both the month and year, achieving a launch month sales record for the Far Cry franchise. It nearly doubled the previous best, Far Cry 3. Sea of Thieves launched this month and was the second best-selling title of the month. For Rare, it achieved the highest launch month sales since the NPD started tracking in 1995. MLB 18 The Show and Kirby Star Allies also achieved their respective series's highest debuts with Kirby nearly selling 90% more than Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land's launch month in terms of revenue.
