This the NPD data for 2015, which covers the sales for March 1 through April 4, 2015 in the United States. The gaming industry generated $963.7 million[1].

Overall[]

A total of $311.1 million for Hardware. This is down 21% from 2014. For software, there was a total of $395.4 million, down 3% from 2014. Additionally, there was $9.5 million for PC retail software, which is down 64% from 2014. For Accessories, there was a total of $257.2 million, up 15% from 2014.

In terms of hardware, the Playstation 4 is the top-selling console for the month with the 3DS in second place. The cumulative total of the PS4 and Xbox One is still over 50% high than the cumulative total of their predecessors, now for 17 months sales. Nintendo noted that Nintendo 3DS has grown by 80% for the 1st 3 months of the year and the Wii U has grown by 20% for the same period

In terms of software, Battlefield: Hardline topped the month with sales better on Xbox than Playstation. Software sales from all 3 eighth-generation consoles increased from last March by 58% collectively. However, new releases had a decline of 16% from new releases from March 2014. Bloodborne had the second best debut month for a 1st Party PS4 game, only behind Infamous: Second Son. Mario Party 10 debuted well with 290,000 copies when including digital. Majora's Mask 3D would have made the list if it was on an SKU basis.
