This the NPD data for March 2013, which covers the sales for United States. The gaming industry generated $922.5 million.[1]

Overall[]

A total of $221.6 million for Hardware. This is down 32% from 2012. For software, there was a total of $602.4 million, up 2% from from 2012. For Accessories, there was a total of $168.5 million. Microsoft announced that $402 million in the Xbox ecosystem for the month.

In terms of hardware, sales continued to slow while the markets were waiting for the next proper generation. Xbox still led the month with 261,000 units despite being down 29%, maintaining the best-selling home console record for the 27th month. Estimates put the Wii U at under 100,000 units again, showing the console struggle again.

In terms of software, Bioshock Infinite topped the chart, selling 878,000 units on consoles. Tomb Raider had to settle for second but, it still had a franchise record for launch. Nintendo released numbers for some of their notable titles including 415,000 for Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, 145,000 for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates To Infinity and an additional 64,000 for Fire Emblem: Awakening.
