This the NPD data for June 2022, which covers the sales for United States. The gaming industry generated $4,335 billion.

Overall

A total of $371 million for Hardware. This is down 8% from 2021. For video game content, there was a total of $3.789 billion, down 11% from from 2021. For Accessories, there was a total of $176 million, down 15% from 2021. For mobile market, it fell 10.7% from last June, a smaller drop from last month. Most of this decline is coming the Google Play Store, with the App Store having minimal growth, being the first growth since February.

In terms of hardware, the Playstation 5 has led in dollars for both June and the first half of 2022. The Nintendo Switch has led in units for both June and the first half of 2022. Playstation 5 had double-digit growth over last year. The Xbox Series ended up in third for June in both categories but, it is still 2nd for the first half.

In terms of software, the biggest new release is Mario Strikers: Battle League, appearing at the third position behind Elden Ring and LEGO Star Wars. The rest of the new releases were below rank 10. A number of old titles received massive spikes in positions. Overwatch returned to the top 20 for the first time since October 2019 due to the Overwatch 2 beta. FInal Fantasy VII Remake rose from 159th due to the Steam release and Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles rose from 56th with the Switch port. Monster Hunter rose from 30 with the release of the Sunbreak expansion. Diablo Immortal's big launch seem to have slowed the decline in the mobile market for the month.
