This the NPD data for June 2021, which covers the sales for United States. The gaming industry generated $4.928 billion. Sales for the first half of the year are $28.944 billion, up 15% from the previous year.

Overall

A total of $401 million for Hardware. This is up 112% from 2020. For video game content, there was a total of $4.319 billion, up 1% from from 2020. For Accessories, there was a total of $207 million, down 1% from 2020.

In terms of hardware, the Xbox Series platforms achieved the best-selling hardware for the month in terms of dollars while the Switch maintains its record as first position in terms of units. For 2021 overall, the Switch is still the leader in terms of both units and dollar sales. The Xbox consoles had a record June as well, beating the their previous best from 2011. The Playstation 5 continues its record pace of being the fast-selling platform ignoring handhelds.

In terms of software, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the best-selling game of the month, setting a franchise record for highest launch month over the 2016 remake. Mario Golf: Super Rush also achieved a franchise high, outperforming Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. Scarlet Nexus also performed solidly in the fifth position. In addition to these new titles, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 and Sea of Thieves returned to the top 20 with the release of the Switch port and the Pirates of the Caribbean crossover respectively.
