This the NPD data for June 2020, which covers the sales for United States. The gaming industry generated $1.178 billion. This is the biggest June since 2009.

Overall

A total of $191 million for Hardware. This is down 17% from 2019. For software, there was a total of $570 million, up 49% from from 2019. For Accessories, there was a total of $417 million, up 29% from 2019.

In terms of hardware, the Switch maintains its lead as the best-selling console in terms of both units and dollar sales.

The big game this month is The Last of Us: Part II, which achieved the highest launch month sales on any 2020 release thus far (with Animal Crossing: New Horizon's digital sales not being tracked by the NPD) and the second highest launch month for a Sony title, only behind Marvel's Spider-Man. Ring Fit Adventure jumped massively from position No. 835 to no. 7. Persona 4 Golden is on the list solely due to the Steam launch,
