Video Game Sales Wiki

This the NPD data for June 2015, which covers the sales for May 31 through July 4, 2015 in the United States. The gaming industry generated $869.4 million[1].

Overall[]

A total of $313.8 million for Hardware. This is up 8% from 2014. For software, there was a total of $345.5 million, up 21% from 2014. Additionally, PC retail software revenue was $8.6 million, down 24% from 2014. For Accessories, there was a total of $210.7 million, up 34% from 2014.

In terms of hardware, the PlayStation 4 led over the Xbox One, in part driven by the Arkham Knight bundle. Bundles have made up 82% of hardware sales. The eighth-generation consoles are 15% over last year and offsetting the decline from previous generations. Nintendo announced that the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS have increased by 20 for the first 6 months of the year, with most of that coming from the 3DS which is 40% over the same timespan. Microsoft mentioned that Xbox One sales were up 51% over 2014.

In terms of software, Batman: Arkham Knight launched to become the 2nd best selling game of the year behind only Mortal Kombat X. These sales exceed the launch of Arkham City from 2011, thus having the biggest launch for any Batman game. If it included the hardware bundles, Arkham Knight would have been the best-selling game of the year. Warner Bros. is also the top publisher of the year between the 4 games on the chart and Dying Light.
