This the NPD data for July 2015, which covers the sales for July 5 through August 1, 2015 in the United States. The gaming industry generated $541.9 million[1].

Overall[]

A total of $202.1 million for Hardware. This is up 2% from 2014. For software, there was a total of $178.5 million, slightly up from 2014. There was $5.9 million for PC retail software, down 20% from 2014. For Accessories, there was a total of $161.3 million, up 17% from 2014.

In terms of hardware, eighth generation hardware and portables were up by a mild 9% and 6% while seventh generation hardware was down 56%. The Playstation 4 is the top console for the month but, the Xbox One was up 44% over last July. Playstation 4 and Xbox One's combined install base are up almost 50% over Xbox 360 and PS3 compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3.

In terms of software, LEGO Jurassic World jumped to the top but, if bundles were included, Arkham Knight would have been the top game. Eighth generation software grew by 64% but, seventh generation and portable software were down by 39% and 33% respectively. New launches were down by 3% from last year. The top new game was Rory McIlroy PGA Tour which exceeded the last PGA Tour entry by almost 70%.
