This the NPD data for July 2013, which covers the sales for United States for July 7 through August 3. The gaming industry generated $443 million[1].

Overall[]

A total of $99.4 million for Hardware. This is down 34% from 2012. For software, there was a total of $222.3 million, down 20% from from 2012. For Accessories, there was a total of $133.4 million, down 3% from 2012.

In terms of hardware, the Nintendo 3DS led hardware sales as the only platform to show growth from last July. Xbox 360 led the consoles, continuing its console record for the 31st month. It only moved 107,000, down nearly half from 2012.

In terms of software, NCAA Football led for the month with sales slightly down from the previous year. It marked the final entry in the series due to EA losing the NCAA license. Nintendo had continued success with 3DS software with it 45% over last July. Animal Crossing: New Leaf moved another 150 thousand units and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon sold another 70 thousand units over the month[2]
