This the NPD data for January 2020, which covers the sales for United States. The gaming industry generated $678 million.

Overall

A total of $129 million for Hardware. This is down 35% from 2019. For software, there was a total of $311 million, down 31% from from 2019. For Accessories, there was a total of $238 million, down 11% from 2019.

In terms of hardware, the Nintendo Switch is the best-selling console in terms of units and dollar sales. However, all three consoles are down year over year. In terms of software, most of the best-selling titles were the best-selling games from last-year. The sole new title was Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, which was the third-fastest selling Dragon Ball game, only behind Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai.
