This is the NPD sales figures for January 2010 which covers the United States. It was a four week sales month, covering the dates from January 3 through January 30.

- Overall Revenue: $1,168.6 million (-12.9%)
- Hardware Revenue: $353.7 million (-20.8%)
- Software Revenue: $597.9 million (-12.4%)
- Accessory Revenue: $217 million (+2.5%)
Overview[]
In terms of hardware, the year-over-year drop is largely from shortages from Nintendo hardware as well older Playstation hardware dropping. Both the HD consoles are notably up from last year though neither surpassed the Wii or DS.
In terms of software, Mass Effect 2 was the biggest new release of the month, landing in 2nd behind New Super Mario Bros. Wii in terms of units. Electronic Arts's Army of Two: The 40th Day, THQ's Darksiders, Sony's MAG and Sega's Bayonetta all made their debut and appeared in the top 20 for the month.
