This the NPD data for 2015, which covers the sales for February 1 through February 28, 2015 in the United States. The gaming industry generated $955.6 million[1].

Overall[]

A total of $378.2 million for Hardware. This is up 10% from 2014. For software, there was a total of $338.9 million, up 7% from from 2014. For Accessories, there was a total of $238.5 million, up 8% from 2014.

In terms of hardware, the 3DS overtook the other consoles with the launch of the New 3DS XL. A total of 395,000 units were sold for the handheld. It was the main driver of hardware revenue growth. The Playstation 4 outsold the Xbox One again, with the combined sales of the platforms almost 60% above their predecessors. Xbox One sales were up by 84% compared to last month. Wii U grew by 20% from last year. Seventh generation hardware declined by 41%.

In terms of software, the big mover was The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D with 515,000 copies sold including digital. It also was the best-selling portable Zelda game on a per-day basis. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate also sold 290,000 when including digital. New releases were 20% higher than 2014 launches. The other new releases this month were Evolve, The Order: 1886 and Dragon Ball Xenoverse
