NPD April 2019

This the NPD data for April 2019, which covers the sales for United States. The gaming industry generated $842 million.

Overall

A total of $160 million for Hardware. This is down 29% from 2018. For software, there was a total of $427 million, up 15% from from 2018. For Accessories, there was a total of $256 million, up 5% from 2018.

The Nintendo Switch was the best selling hardware of the month and the only platform to not decline. The Nintendo Switch 32GB with neon red and blue joy cons is the best-selling individual hardware item of 2019. The Super Smash series 1 amiibo Character Pack was the best-selling accessory this month, outselling the usual controller.

Mortal Kombat 11 topped each platform it launched, marking the first time a third party topped the Switch charts since September 2017. Days Gone is the 7th highest launch for Sony and the best selling game for Bend Studio overall.
