This the NPD data for April 2017, which covers the sales for United States for April 2 through April 29. The gaming industry generated $636 million[1]. Starting this month, the NPD includes digital data for Microsoft and Sony.

Overall[]

A total of $195 million for Hardware. This is up 37% from April 2016 and the highest hardware sales for April since 2011. For Accessories, there was a total of $125 million, up 4% from 2016. For console software, there was a total of $304 million,up 6% from 2016. For PC software, there was a total of $11 million, down 57% from 2016.

The Nintendo Switch outsold the Playstation 4 and Xbox One again, with almost every unit shipped being sold, since most people had reported that have not seen one on store shelves. The Switch sold over 280,000 units. NES Classic was the second best seller in terms of unit sales.

Persona 5 was the strongest debut in the franchise, 5 times the launch sales of Persona 4 on the PS2.
