Koei Tecmo is a major Japanese publisher. It was the product of a merger between Koei and Tecmo in 2009.
History[]
Tecmo was originally founded as Tehkan in the 1960s, though they wouldn't start game development until 1981. They were mainly known for sports games (such as Tehkan World Cup and Tecmo Bowl) and action games (such as the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises).
Koei was established in 1978. They were mainly known for historical strategy games (such as Nobunaga's Ambition and Romance of the Three Kingdoms) and historical action games (such as Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors).
The two companies merged in 2009, becoming Koei Tecmo.
