FIFA, rebranded as EA Sports FC from 2023 onwards, is a series of officially licensed associated football (soccer) games published annually by Electronic Arts (EA). The series started in 1993 as FIFA International Soccer on the Sega Mega Drive and continued to release annually on a multitude of platforms for the next 30 years. As of 2021, the franchise sold over 325 million copies worldwide.[1]
It is EA's flapship series, alongside Madden NFL. FIFA is the best-selling sports video game franchise, above Madden. FIFA is also the best-selling association football franchise, rivalled only by Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer series.
